First Day of Spring 2012 Term
School will resume for all students on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 8:00 A.M. Students will report to Spring Program Distribution Rooms to receive their spring program card and spring metrocard. A full instructional day is planned with dismissal at the usual time of 2:40 P.M. Please click the attachment below for Program Distribution Room Assignments.
The distribution of final fall report cards has been postponed until Friday, February 3, 2012.
Students will report to their assigned distribution room on February 3rd at 8:30 A.M. after second period in order to receive fall report cards that include Regents and RCT examination results from the January 2012 examination period. The final report card for the fall term reflects grades for the 3rd marking period (Dec. 5 - Jan. 23) and a final grade for the entire fall term (Sept. 8 - Jan. 23). The next report card will be issued on March 28, 2012. Parent –Teacher Conferences will be held on March 29th 6:00 P.M. – 8:30 PM and March 30th 12:40 P.M. – 2:40 P.M. Tutoring is available everyday. Please check this website regularly for schedules and updates.

NEW NYSED POLICY REGARDING THE SCORING OF REGENTS EXAMINATIONS
EFFECTIVE JUNE 2011
Effective June 2011, for schools with grades 8-12, NYS Regents scoring procedures have changed. Scoring committees, once they have rated an exam, are no longer permitted to re-score them, regardless of the final score. Specifically, exams receiving a final score of 60-64 or 50-54 are not permitted to be re-scored.

PUPIL PATH
Registration letters for Pupil Path, our internet grade and communication website, will be distributed to students during third period classes on Monday, September 26, 2011. This letter for parents/guardians describes all the features of Pupil Path, the instructions to access the website, and the specific registration codes required for parents/guardians and students to sign into Pupil Path. The Pupil Path website, in conjunction, with the ARIS parent link and this eChalk website will provide parents/guardians with the requisite 21st century tools to take an active role in their child’s education.

THS DRESS CODE
“Dressing for Success” applies not only to the workplace, but also to school. Appropriate attire does contribute to a productive learning environment. The following is a list of inappropriate apparel and accessories that should not be worn in the school building:
low-cut blouses tube tops sunglasses
low-cut tank tops short shorts halter tops
metal wallet chains pants chains hats/doo-rags
micro-mini skirts midriff tops
metal spike bracelets/necklaces
extreme low riders men's muscle tank tops
Clothing worn to school should provide adequate coverage of the midriff area, and undergarments should never be visible. T-shirts with inappropriate or offensive logos, designs, or pictures are also prohibited. Students who report to school with inappropriate attire will be asked to change into a physical education uniform, and parents will be contacted. Additionally,cell phones, iPods and other electronic devices are not permitted. These devices will be confiscated if used in our building.

Medical Services or Section 504 Accommodations:
Your child may be entitled to direct health services and/or accommodations in school under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

SCHOOL FUNDRAISING ALERT
All fundraising for New York City Public Schools is carefully regulated by Chancellor’s Regulations and closely monitored by the Department of Education. Please be aware that any students who claim to be Tottenville High School students fundraising for after-school programs and school supplies are not sanctioned by the school and are in direct violation of Chancellor’s Regulation
A-610, which states that solicitation of funds by children is prohibited.
Should you encounter any students engaging in illegal fundraising and solicitation, we kindly ask that you report this information to our Parent Coordinator, Connie Assennato.

Planning a family vacation?
Family vacations should be planned to coincide with vacation days and weeks of the annual school calendar. Please be aware that teachers are not obligated to make prior arrangements for assignments, projects, and other instructional activities involving work that has not yet been presented. Student absence for vacation will also be treated as an unexcused absence. You should also be aware that teachers cannot be expected to extend their normal workday to provide remediation or to administer tests for students who have been on vacation, nor shall teachers be required to repeat lessons that were given during the vacation period. Please keep this in mind when planning your next family vacation.
